5 Common Laundry Mistakes and How to Fix Them

Even with the best detergent, laundry mistakes can leave your clothes looking dull or smelling off. Here are five of the most common issues and how to solve them:

1. Using Too Much Detergent

More soap doesn't mean cleaner clothes. Excess detergent leaves residue on fabrics and inside your machine. Stick to the recommended amount on your Cleanative laundry detergent label.

2. Washing in the Wrong Water Temperature

Hot water is great for whites and heavily soiled items, but it can shrink or fade coloured clothing. Use cold or warm water for everyday coloured garments.

3. Overloading the Machine

A stuffed drum means clothes don't get properly cleaned. Fill your machine to about three-quarters capacity for the best results.

4. Not Separating Colours

Always wash darks, lights, and whites separately to prevent colour bleeding. New dark garments especially tend to bleed dye in the first few washes.

5. Skipping the Pre-Soak for Stubborn Stains

For tough stains like oil or grass, soak the garment in diluted Cleanative laundry detergent for 15–30 minutes before washing. This loosens the stain and improves results dramatically.
