Water spots are one of the most common complaints after a car wash. They form when water droplets dry on the surface, leaving behind mineral deposits. Here's how to prevent and remove them:
Why Water Spots Form
Hard water contains minerals like calcium and magnesium. When water evaporates on your car's surface, these minerals are left behind as white spots or rings.
Prevention: Dry Immediately After Washing
The best solution is to dry your car right after washing. Use a clean, soft microfibre towel to gently blot and wipe the surface dry — don't let the car air dry in direct sunlight.
Wash in the Shade
Washing your car in direct sunlight speeds up evaporation, leaving water and soap residue behind before you can rinse it off. Always wash in a shaded area or during cooler parts of the day.
Removing Existing Water Spots
For light water spots, a diluted solution of white vinegar and water applied with a microfibre cloth often does the trick. For heavier mineral deposits, a dedicated car detailing product may be needed.
Use Cleanative Car Wash Correctly
Rinse one section at a time and dry it before moving to the next. This prevents the wash solution from drying on the paintwork and reduces the chance of spotting.
