Why Are My Floors Still Sticky After Mopping?

Sticky floors after mopping is a frustrating but common problem. Here's why it happens and how to fix it:

Too Much Cleaner in the Water

This is the most common culprit. Using too much floor cleaner leaves a soapy residue that attracts dirt and feels sticky underfoot. Always follow the dilution ratio on your Cleanative Floor Cleaner label — usually one capful per bucket of water.

Not Rinsing Properly

Some floor cleaners require a rinse mop pass with clean water after cleaning. If your floors still feel tacky, do a second pass with a clean mop and plain water to lift any remaining residue.

Dirty Mop Head

A dirty mop spreads grime rather than removing it. Wash your mop head regularly and rinse it thoroughly between rooms.

Hard Water Mineral Deposits

In areas with hard water, mineral deposits can build up on floors over time, causing a sticky or filmy feeling. Add a small splash of white vinegar to your mop water occasionally to help dissolve mineral buildup.

Wrong Cleaner for Your Floor Type

Some cleaners aren't suited to certain floor finishes (e.g., waxed or polished surfaces). Check that your Cleanative Floor Cleaner is appropriate for your specific floor type.
